Meeting 11/8/2012

Operation Christmas Child

Today was a very special day for our MOPS group, we had the opportunity to participate in Operation Christmas Child.

We were able to package 18 shoes boxes to be sent overseas to bring joy to children.

"It breaks my heart to see children physically/spiritually/emotionally in need of such trivial things as a toothbrush in order to survive. When I think of a child hurting my mind automatically goes to Operation Christmas child, Compassion International, adoption, etc. They all get grouped together for me and I just want to help as many little ones as possible. That's my favorite thing about being the coordinator, I get to make sure all these important groups get our attention and our service. I can't really say anything specific about one of them because to me they together are one."
                                              - Aftyn, Service Coordinator

Members of our steering team were also promoting the 80's movie night on Saturday.

Meeting 10/25/12

Devotional and Blocks

Shelly, our Mentor Mom Coordinator, gave a heart warming devotional about being thankful.  Something we can all relate to and a subject that is closer to our hearts with upcoming holidays.

We then got to make decorative word blocks which contained 4 words on 5 blocks in various colors. The craft was fun and messy to make and looked phenomenal when completed.

Welcome Aboard!

Our kick off to the year couldn't have gone any better! Moms got to eat some breakfast (without being interrupted), chat with some old friends and start building new friendships, and still fit in some time to create the cutest nametags.

Our very welcoming check in ladies, Jodee and Julie

Pastor Lynn was kind enough to start our meeting off with a devotional and a blessing over the meeting.

Brunch was generously provided by the leadership team

2012-2013 Theme

Greetings!

We are pleased to welcome you to South Hills MOPS!  This year, our theme is Plunge! Love as if your life depended on it. Taking the plunge in relationships means being authentic and going deeper.  In MOPS, relationships offer hope to moms, especially as they move below surface conversations and take risks to create authentic community.  Our topics this year will include growing mom friendships, growing a purposeful family, and personal growth and self-care.

The theme is based on this scripture:

Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God's words; if help, let it be God's hearty help. That way, God's bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he'll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!          1 Peter 4:8-11

Peter encourages us to take the plunge and love one another fearlessly without hesitation, even cheerfully. This is necessary with our husbands and children but also as we leave our comfort zone and make new friends!
We look forward to jumping in feet first with you and dive deeper to learn what is means to Love As If Your Life Depended On It!

In Him,
